Cherry Crest Adventure Farm - Keepers

This past Thursday we enjoyed a field trip to the Cherry Crest Adventure Farm in Paradise, PA with our Keepers Club.  We all had lots of fun doing the many activities available on the farm.  From the many mazes and slides to the Post Pounder and Pedal-Karts there is something for everyone to enjoy!

Trying to figure out the No Left Turn maze.

Luke and David on the tractor ride! :)

Bethany, Elainah, and Joy on the slide!

Aunt Joy, Aunt Melissa, and Aunt Jeanine going down the slide =D

There's quite a climb to the top of the slides...

...but the climb is worth the ride down! :)

This cute little guy has figured out how to jump through the fence and say "hi" to the visitors in the Barnyard!

holding chicks in the Discovery Barn

we all got to make butter in the afternoon...

We shook our containers of cream until we had a lump of butter!

 waiting at the railroad crossing...

The Strasburg Railroad passes right through the farm multiple times every day.

If you get tired there's always the web to sit in... :P

Building a log cabin... I think this was the busiest construction site all day lol

 the onlookers... :P

Somebody got a little sleepy!

Some of the girls in the "Big" maze!

David was so cute doing the Giant Slinger!
You get three tennis balls to shoot at the targets on the hill and if you hit a target you get a prize.

Getting some help from his big sister :)

We all had a fun time at Cherry Crest!
Thanks to Sis. Renee for choosing this as a field trip!

Cape Henlopen 2013

This week we took a little two-day trip down to Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes, Delaware.
Lewes is the first town in the first state!

Elainah helping to set up the tent :)

David was quite the little helper gathering sticks for firewood!

We left Tuesday morning and arrived at the campground around 12:30 in time for lunch.
We set up camp and then headed for an afternoon at the beach!

David was amazed that there was sand everywhere :D

Cape Henlopen State Park has bike trails everywhere so we always bring our bikes!

The water was quite cold but that didn't stop Lillia and Hope from jumping right in!

Joshua and Elainah digging in the sand...

Hope getting slammed by a wave!!

Hope getting slammed again!

 Elainah in her "pit" lol

Hope and Lillia sharing a boogie board

 Our sweet little baby Benjamin...

We rode our bikes into the town of Lewes in the evening...

...and got DQ blizzards to enjoy on the beach...

It was really windy and cool out on the beach... we should have gotten hot cocoa instead of blizzards!

Benjamin all bundled up enjoying his own little snack in the bike cart :)

By the ferry float for the Cape May - Lewes Ferry...

 Relaxing back at the campsite...

David fell asleep in the back of the bike cart on the way home from town :)

The observation towers are always fun to climb in!  Can you see Joshua all the way at the top?!

Fort Miles was built in two years to defend the Delaware River during WWII.  The river was a chief priority for defense planners because of the access it held to the trade centers in Wilmington and Philadelphia.  The heavy guns, mine fields and searchlights of Fort Miles provided in-depth defense; however, the growing use of long-range missiles brought an end to harbor defenses in the United States. By 1958, Fort Miles was no longer important to the defense of the region, and in 1964, 543 acres of the base were returned to the State of Delaware, creating the heart of Cape Henlopen State Park.

 Hope and Joy

We had a bonfire that night and roasted hot dogs and s'mores...mmm!!!

Wednesday morning we made breakfast and packed up camp before heading to the beach again in the afternoon.

Joy and David decided they wanted to cook their sausage over the open fire :)

On the bike ride to the beach this little guy and his momma hopped across the bike trail in front of us!

The beach buggy lol

A horseshoe crab that washed up on the shore

Hope really didn't want to get wet yet but Daddy had other ideas!

Elainah wrote all our initials in the sand :)

Enjoying lunch while watching the waves...

Joshua got buried by that one!

The boys started burying daddy in the sand....

 Then they buried David...

...and then we buried all the boys :P

Benjamin enjoying his nap :)

There's a really tall sand dune on the beach where we were playing in the waves so we decided to walk down and have some fun!

on the way back from the dunes we saw dolphins really close to the shore!!

We left Wednesday afternoon for the two and a half hour drive home but first we made a pit stop in Dover.

We stopped by Grandpoppy and Grandmommy's house for dinner with Uncle Mike, Auntie, and their boys!  It was great to see them again!
