A Beautiful Day In Amish Country

Today was beautiful here in Amish country...white fluffy clouds sailing by in a baby blue sky, an occasional horse drawn Amish buggy rattling up the road, and the sound of birds singing in the trees...here are a few pictures from our day.

 Amish giril buddies...
Elainah is learning how to ride her bike!

Go Elainah!!

Joshua, Lillia, and Hope have a new unicycle trick...

They all ride in from different directions and then join hands and swing around in a circle.  It's pretty cool!

And another trick too..

They've Left The Nest!

Yesterday when we checked the nest the three purple finches had taken flight!  You may have notcied that in all my pictures there were only three birds visible.  If you remember, at the beginning there were four eggs.  In the bottom of the empty nest there was an egg that had been punctured.  I would have posted a picture but it was kind of gross!
In previous years once one brood has hatched and left the nest, the parents sometimes return and raise a second brood.  Sooo...stay tuned!

WDAC Tour

On Thursday the local radio station had an open house with tours.
We invited Faith and Anna to come along and see how our favorite programs are put on the air!

Hope, helping the secretary

Lillia got to send a few messages too!

With the secretary, Lorraine

We got to say "Hi!" on air with Larry Dale

Doug Meyer, showing us how they used to play shows.

The towers, the tallest one is five hundred feet!

With Mike Stike the Sunrise Program Host

Technology has improved so much over the past thirty years!!  When the radio station first began they played songs off of records, then came tapes, CDs, and now most of their programs are loaded through satellite!  Over 20,000 songs are loaded on their computers, a process that took several years to complete.  They still have the records in case someone wants to hear an old song, and, "because no one else wants the records," said John Eby.  It was a very interesting tour and it was neat to see how a radio station works!

Whirlwind of a Weekend

Wow, this past weekend was soooo awesome!  On Friday afternoon (about 4 p.m.) my friend, Grace, e-mailed me and said that Bro. Joesph was opening up the new YF gym on Saturday for the youth.  So Daddy said, "How about we get a van of young people together from church and go out for the day?"   By 7:30 p.m. Daddy, Joshua, and I were on our way up to church to pick up seven other young people, Travis, Shelia, Jason, Joanna, Zoe, Abigail, Grace, and Uncle Jake, who volunteered to drive with Daddy.   Everyone was really excited about the trip and at 9 p.m. we headed out on the 10 hour drive to Jeffersonville, Indiana!  Arriving  Saturday morning we grabbed a bite to eat at McDonalds and went down to the Ohio River for Quiet Time.  After a few people :) in our group went for a walk, we were headed for the Gym.  We had a great time playing volleyball, basketball, ninesquare, and cornhole.

When you're having fun you don't think about taking pictures but then when you sit down to post there are no pictures to post!!! :)
Voice of God Recordings had announced they were having tours from 1-5 p.m. so we went over there and took a tour of the work.  It was very interesting!!!

On the tour in the printing area.
Almost 3 million books have been printed so far this year.

At 5 p.m. we started the drive home to Pennsylvania and arrived in Rexmont, PA around three a.m.  Everyone went up to Uncle Jon and Aunt Rebekah's for a few hours sleep before sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. Sunday morning.  For the sunrise service we listened to the Message "I Know" and then at 10 a.m. we had regular service.  After church Uncle Steve and Aunt Jen invited us to their house for lunch.

Bird Update

Well, two of the purple finch eggs have HATCHED!!!!  We are all so excited!  Right now they are tiny little fuzzy pink things that hardly resemble a beautiful purple finch!  I will be updating on their progress as they grow!

It looks like there are three eggs still unhatched but that is actually the remainder of a shell.
Momma Birdie needs to clean up!  :)

This a picture of a Purple Finch from the Internet...They are beautiful birds!!
