Alaska Day #4

Day #4!

Thursday morning we left Wasilla to go to Mt. McKinley.  On our way we spotted this moose cow and her calf along the side of the highway.

 Mama Moose

The cow and her calf were about ten feet from the side of the road.
She didn't seem to be too disturbed by our presence and just kept on munching her breakfast.

We were driving through the town of Willow when Daddy said, "There it is!"
We all poked our heads up front and got our first view of Mt. McKinley!

Mt. McKinley is the tallest moutain (20,320 ft.) on the North American continent.
About 1200 climbers climb Mt. McKinley each year.
Only 50% are sucssesful in reaching the summit.

David thought walking through the leaves was the best part!

See any climbers?

After lunch at Byers Lake we drove to the Iditarod Museum.

Elainah, "Mom, does that sign say I can't sit on the sled?"

Stay tuned for Day #5!
God bless!
