Keepers - Safety

Sam is a police officer and he is also the father of a Keepers club member.  This past Thursday (9th, yes, I know this post is late!) he taught us about fire, Internet, and police safety.
First we watched a few videos about fire safety in the house; don't have too many things plugged into the same outlet, make sure to have an escape route in case of a fire, and have a meeting place.
We also watched a video on Internet safety.
For the police safety segment of our meeting, Sam had Officer David from the local Police Department come and show us all the gadgets police officers have in their cars.  He ran his lights and siren too.

Once back inside, Sam showed us his bike.  In the summertime, he can do rounds on his bike.
Bikes can get into places cars can't and they can sometimes go faster than a car in a congested area.

The Internet safety training prohibits us from revealing the identity of these two spectators.
haha ;)

Demonstrating the taser... When the tasers first came out, Sam's station allowed the officers to get tased; if they wanted to.  Sam volunteered, he said it is the same method as cattle prongs except a little more electricity (50,000 volts).   He said, "Your whole body just tightens and you can't do anything, you just fall forward on the ground."

D. U. I. demonstration

"Keep your eyes on this light, follow it with your eyes, but DO NOT move your head."
If the persons eyes pulsate up and down while they are following the light, Sam knows they are on something besides alcohol, (drugs).

Walking the line
An interesting fact; 70% of people driving between 11p.m. - 3a.m. have been influenced by alcohol.
Another fact; the gear on his belt weighs 30 lbs!

Even though the Lord is going to protect us, we still need to do our part in being safe.
In closing, Sam read Ephesians 6:10-18 about the Armor of God.

What's a policeman without a donut?!  :)
