~ Nathan & Laurisa's Wedding ~

We had the privilege of attending Nathan and Laurisa's beautiful wedding in Alabama.

Justin and Kaitlyn drove from Arizona and met us there for the weekend.

Instead of a unity candle they did a unity painting.

Melissa with her daughters Hannah and Faith.

Instead of a guestbook they wanted you to wear props for a funny photo at the photo booth.

The bride had ribbon wands with little bells on the end for the send off.

Abraham Lincoln's Birthplace

On our way to Alabama for Nathan and Larisa's wedding we took a detour.

We went to the Braham Tabernacle in Indiana for Wednesday night service.  On Thursday we visited Abraham Lincoln's Birthplace in Kentucky, then to Tennessee to meet the Rains!  

 

They had a nice little museum we could go through to learn more about Abraham Lincoln's life.

He was born on Sunday, February 12th 1809 on Sinking Spring Farm.

At age three, his family moved to Knob creek which was 10 miles away.

Abe and his sister, Sarah, walked two miles to an A B C school or "blab" school.

At age seven he moved to Spencer County, Indiana.   His Mom died when he was 9.

The visitor center had a replica of what they thought an 1800's cabin might look like.

 Benjamin enjoyed the" Lincoln" logs!

Abraham Lincoln had a little brother who died soon after he was born named Thomas Lincoln, Jr. This rock with his initials is his grave marker.

                                               

There are 56 steps leading up to the memorial building representing each year that Abraham Lincoln lived.

It got its name from the water that dropped into a pit.

Benjamin loved climbing over the fences that at are around the memorial.  

  

 The visitor center had a few chestnut trees. 

 David decided to open one he found on the ground!     

Home-stead families would harvest chestnuts and send them to the city in order to get a little extra money if they had had a hard year.   

                        We had a wonderful time visiting with the Rain Family at Golden Corral for dinner that evening! 

~Ice Skating~

Our next homeschool meeting was held at the Lancaster Ice Rink.

Daddy gave the club a few pointers on how to ice skate well.

Then the fun began!

It was nice our cousins Nathan and Genia from Indiana were able to come.

 I don't think I have ever seen Uncle Jon fall before. 

This was quite a crash. 

It was such a great day.  We practically had the whole rink to ourselves!
