We arrived at the Smoky Mountains on Monday morning and drove the Cades Cove Loop Road. Our first stop was the Elijah Oliver Cabin. You have to hike about .5 mi. to get back to the cabin.
The spring house was pretty neat to see how the settlers used to keep things cool.
The next stop was Gregg-Cable House that is located beside the Cades Cove Visitor Center.

The corn is being dropped through, and is then ground up by the mill stone and ...
Once it is ground up it is poured into this trough.
In the olden days settlers used this to shell their corn.

The Black Smith Shop
The hinges on the Black Smiths Shop were pretty neat.
On the way to the campground we stopped at a man made water fall. Before there was a park, loggers used this river to float the logs down to the camp. At one time the rivers course was a little more windier then it is today. When a log jam occurred, the loggers had to use dynamite.
