The Zodiac

In the past week I have learned a lot about the heavens.

I never really took much interest in the zodiac, but this meeting really made us look up and see Gods magnificent work. 

Now it is so interesting to go out at night and look up into the skies and look for the different planets, stars, and constellations we learned about. 

Some of the stars and constellations we saw are:

Betelgeuse- it is 40 times bigger than our sun

Sirius- one of the brightest because it is the closest 

 8 light years away

Polaris - also known as the north star

Arcturus and Pleiades - are mentioned by Job

Orion - mentioned by Job and Amos

The Big Bear -  Ursa Major helps find the north star

Mommy made a really nice supper for everyone!

Since this meeting was at night we invited the club members and their families for dinner.

Before it got dark Daddy taught us a little about what we were going to look at.

"God wrote three Bibles. One of them was the Zodiac in the skies, that’s the first Bible. Man was to look up to realize that God is from above. Follow the Zodiac, did you ever study it? It even gives every age, even the cancer age. It gives the beginning, the fir-…the birth of Christ. What is the first figure in the Zodiac? The virgin. What’s the last figure? Leo the lion. The first Coming and the second Coming of Christ, all of it is written in there."

Bro. Abel brought this awesome telescope that a co-worker had lent to him.

The first thing we spotted besides the moon was Jupiter.

There is a really cool free app that helps you find the different stars and some planets.
It's called SkyView.
So no, we're not taking selfies :)

We had a chance to see the International Space Station fly by around 9:20pm. The 6 astronauts/cosmonauts on board this spacecraft, the size of a 6 bedroom house,

are about 250 miles up and traveling over 17000 mph. It goes around the earth about every 90 minutes.
