My favorite way to fix green beans is to melt 4 Tblsp of butter in a cast iron skillet, add 2 cloves of minced garlic, then add whole, fresh green beans. Saute until vibrant green.
My new favorite way is to cut up fresh green beans into thirds and cook with just enough water covering. Add some butter and brown sugar and cook until desired texture of green bean.
Here's a Ky version....cook in water with bacon grease, onion, and a few pieces of ham or bacon. you can even add a few pieces of potatoes. Don't forget to make a skillet of cornbread to eat with it. ;o)
Our favorite way to prepare green beans is pick them young and leave them whole. First, steam them a little bit, but not till done. Then pour a little olive oil into a wok or large skillet. Add some minced fresh garlic and saute a little. Add green beans and saute till desired doneness. Remove from heat and sprinkle with soy sauce and a little ginger. Even my Hubby will eat the dreaded green beans like this! -Sharon Strite
