Sheep

Aunt Betsy came to teach our PA Creations Club all about sheep!
She enjoyed raising sheep for many years plus shearing and spinning their wool into beautiful knitted projects.  Unfortunately, it was a very rainy day so the meeting had to be held in the garage.

Faith, one of the club members, knows all about spinning from her 4-H club.
She actually owns an Angora rabbit and is going to spin its fur!
Faith made the blanket she is holding on a loom.  Sorry it is blurry.

This is a bag full of rabbit fur she has been saving.

Thank you Pop-Pop for donating the wool for this meeting from your flock.
And THANK YOU Aunt Betsy for the countless hours you spent cleaning it!!!
She said if you wash the wool in hot water you have to rinse it in hot water.
If you wash it in cold water you have to rinse it in cold water.

Aunt Betsy taught us how to use a drop spindle to create handspun yarn.

The wool has to be carded to make it ready for spinning.
This drum carder helped make cleaning the wool a lot easier than the hand held carders.

Aunt Betsy let everyone try the spinning wheel.  It was a lot harder to pedal than we imagined.

One of our amish neighbors kindly let us borrow one of their "baby doll" sheep for the meeting.

We tried to go with the sheep theme for the snack, but...... maybe they looked
like bunnies or bats instead?!

Pig Roast

Pop-pop & Mom-mom had a nice pig roast for family and friends.

They had a nice hay ride.

Pop-pop always enjoys lining the food table with fruit.

Remember we said "pig roast"....

This was Serenah's first time to meet cousin Eric...

It was a pleasure meeting this sweet sister from Poland and her husband.

The Minerals Meeting

PA Creations Club met at Brady's Village Art Gallery and Rock Shop for a tour.
I never knew rocks could be so interesting!

Laurisa showed us some very interesting rocks she has collected in her travels.

From the rock shop we went to Ringing Rocks...when you hit these certain rocks with a hammer they make a tune!
