God Has A Plan For My Life - Creekside Camp 2014

Uncle Steve and Aunt Jennifer recently hosted "Creekside Camp"
at the Bomberger farm for the children ages 3-12 at church.

 

 Sunday afternoon after church the parents and children made their way to the Bomberger farm where they ate lunch then played relay games, all with the construction theme.

 

 

After lunch there were many fun relay games...Uncle Steve demonstrated how to do each one.

 

Each one had a "construction" theme...

 

 

 

After playing games the kids went down to the pond for some fun in the water...

 

David has never kayaked before but he took to the water like a pro.

 Once everyone was worn out from swimming they came back up to the garage for a few more fun activities.

 

Uncle Steve led the children in some fun songs from Still Waters Camp

 

Then Carpenter Grandpa came and talked to them about how important it is to have a good foundation for your life.

 

The evening was closed with hot dogs roasted over the fire and a sing-along.

 

 

The 8-12 year olds got to camp out on the farm Sunday night and the 7 year olds were welcomed back on Monday morning for some more fun activities.  A big thank you to Uncle Steve and Aunt Jennifer for all their hard work and planning to make Creekside so memorable for the children.  Also thank you to Bro. Dave and Sis. Linda for allowing it to be held at their farm.

Where did August go?!

August was filled with many fun activities for us.  A few weeks ago we went on a field trip to Herr's Chip Factory and visited our great-grandmother.  We also went with our Keeper's group to Indian Echo Caves for our first meeting of the year.

 

Our sweet little boy is such a joy to everyone...

Joshua took Benjamin around to say hi to the elderly people in the nursing home while we were there. 
It was so sweet to see their faces light up when Benjamin would smile and wave to them.

 The first Keeper's meeting for this year was a field trip to the Indian Echo Caverns, which is a limestone cave.

 ::cousins::

The first visitors to Indian Echo Caverns were the Susquehannock Indians.  It's believed that they used the caverns as a refuge during inclement weather because of the constant 52° temperature inside the caverns.

     The first non-Native American explorers of the caverns were probably French fur trappers. Most likely they discovered the mouth of the caverns as they traveled on the Swatara Creek. These explorers wrote about their tales in the caverns attracting more and more explorers.

 The Caverns were first opened to the general public in 1929. Mr. John  Bieber realized that many people wishing to visit the caverns might be put off by the treacherous, uneven terrain that nature created. He undertook a massive commercialization process, in which all of the pathways in the caverns were made safe for travel, as well as opening up many rooms closed off because of huge mineral deposits.

Best Little Brother Ever!

Sweet little Benjamin cracks us all up with his antics... the other day the children were outside at the picnic table working on their school and Benjamin was with them.  Joshua took these pictures and videos on his iPod of our adorable little boy.  He was making himself laugh and it was making us laugh!
