It's Cold Enough to Skate on the Pond!

In the beginning of January we finally had a cold spell long enough for the pond to freeze.  The children loved the fact that they were able to skate with their Amish friends every night!  They had lights strung up over the pond and there are intense hockey games between the boys, while the girls skate in their area around the game.  One night we went down and we were the only ones there, so I took the camera along and took some pictures.  Enjoy!

We take a short cut through the fields on our way to the pond.

We put the light on top of the diving board, so we could see.
When all the Amish neighbors kids come down they bring their dads dewalt flashlights and hang them on a line that is hung across the pond. One night the line snapped and all was dark ( not good!) The next night  all the neighbors pitched in and one got a string of lights, one got a generator and some got some gas and the pond was all lit up again.

Joy and Elainah have improved so much this year:D

We played a little hockey!
It is a ton of fun especially with 50 Amish friends!

We had a very nice Christmas season visiting family and friends.

Christmas Day was spent with Grandpoppy and Grandmommy at their house.
David was thrilled with his new boots!  His old ones were getting a bit snug :)

Nature Night - Keepers

Back in November the Keepers club hosted an event they called "Nature Night".
Everyone from church was invited to attend.

Every member chose something out of the Footsteps of the Prophet coloring book that had to do with Nature.
 Elainah chose the Saguaro cactus.

Abigail chose "Color"

Greeters :)

They all recited Psalms 148 before they each gave their presentation.

Bethany's speech had us all laughing :) She did a great job telling us about horses!

Joanna chose Corn

Mommy cut out a cardboard saguaro cactus and David helped Elainah paint it green.  They stuck toothpicks all around the sides for spines and during her speech Joshua stuck items on the cactus as she talked about them.

Lincoln's presentation was on Mountains.

He had a cool pop quiz about Mountains on his board.  How well did you do? :)

Joshua chose Dogs.

Joy's presentation was about Berries.

Elizabeth chose Trees.

Faith's was on Eagles.

Each family brought a snack to share with everyone.
Elainah and mommy made cactus cupcakes :)

Psalm 148
Praise ye the Lord. Praise ye the Lord from the heavens: praise Him in the heights.
Praise ye Him, all His angels: praise ye Him, all His hosts.
Praise ye Him, sun and moon: praise Him, all ye stars of light.
Praise Him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens.
Let them praise the name of the Lord: for He commanded, and they were created.
He hath also stablished them for ever and ever: He hath made a decree which shall not pass.
Praise the Lord from the earth, ye dragons, and all deeps:
Fire, and hail; snow, and vapours; stormy wind fulfilling his word:
Mountains, and all hills; fruitful trees, and all cedars:
Beasts, and all cattle; creeping things, and flying fowl:
Kings of the earth, and all people; princes, and all judges of the earth:
Both young men, and maidens; old men, and children:
Let them praise the name of the Lord: for His name alone is excellent; His glory is above the earth and heaven.
He also exalteth the horn of his people, the praise of all His saints; even of the children of Israel, a people near unto Him.
Praise ye the Lord
